An exhibition of Ram Katzir’s sculpture models will be held in Gakushuin Gallery, Tokyo during April 28 – June 1st, 2012. Katzir will talk about his new works in Gakushuin Woman College on Saturday 28.

Public Sculpture competition

Shanghai, China

Ram Katzir has been shortlisted for the final round of a public sculpture competition for LiuJiaZui financial district in Pudong Shanghai. Placed in the former shipyard of Shanghai, this land mark location will include the new Mandarin hotel and it will be highly visible from Puxi.

Public Sculpture

Oota Hospital, Gunma, Japan

A permanent installation by Katzir will be installed in the garden and cafeteria of Shin Sogo OOTA Hospital in Gunma prefecture, Japan. The installation will play with the visitor’s perspective and invite patients to explore the garden. The new hospital will open in 2012.

Grow Yokohama

Japan

Ram Katzir’s sculpture for the entrance of Yokohama’s Minato Mirai, gives an optimistic and peaceful presence to a city recently hit by an earthquake. The sculpture will be placed in front of a new building with a museum, high-end stores, and offices. The official unveiling will be held on 8 February 2012.

Sculpture garden

Ella Valley, Israel

During November 2011 to January 2012 Ram Katzir will work as an artist in residence in Vertigo Eco Art Village. Located between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, the village is a center for art and ecology in Israel’s rural Ella Valley. At its heart is the Vertigo Dance Company, which founded the village in order to foster artistic creation engagedwith the environment. On December 29 Katzir will give a presentation of his work process in Ella Valley.

Watch Your Back

Guangzhou 4th Triennial

The fourth Guangzhou Triennial will run during 22 September – 27 November 2011 and include international artists such as Jannis Kounelis, YangYong and Sui Jianguo. Katzir’s interactive installation Watch Your Back invites visitors to have an out of body experience in a mysterious corridor. Watch Your Back was purchased by Guangdong Museum of Art as part of their permanent collection.

During June and July 2011, Ram Katzir will give a series of lectures in Guangdong Museum of Art, Guangzhou, CAFA Museum, Beijing and Rockbund Art Museum, Shanghai. Lecture series supported by Mondrian Fonds, the Embassy of the Netherlands, Beijing, The Israeli Embassy, Beijing and the hosting institutes.
